Minutes Reports, Planning Files 1974-1975

This series comprises records related to the fourth deaconess conference of the Deaconess Community of the Lutheran Church in America (LCA) held August 12-15, 1975, at Muhlenberg College, Allentown, Pennsylvania. While several of the records were generated during the course of recording proceedings of the conference, many were generated because of the planning process for the conference. Records date from 1974-1975 and include minutes, reports, program material, keynote addresses, orders of service, devotional material, budgets, news articles, news releases, evaluations, and business correspondence. Among this series are reports from the chairperson of the deaconess council, the executive secretaries, chairperson of deaconess conference, chaplain, the Associates in Diaconal Service program, director for retired sisters program, administrator of the deaconess center, librarian, and business manager. Of note, within this series are records related to the "Struggle Group," this term refers to small group discussions on the future of the diaconate. These records include group participant lists, position papers, schedules, material related to the structure and running of the struggle groups. Also of note, this series include conference evaluations forms similar to those for the third conference LCA 108/2/2/3/1.
